Minority groups often present with more advanced cancers and experience worse survival rates, even after adjusting for socioeconomic status. The health disparities faced by these communities are exacerbated by the lack of access to free cancer screening and low-income insurance options like Colorado's Health First or Medicaid. As a result, those with high-risk illnesses often do not receive the proper blood screenings or genetic testing early enough to prevent cases of advanced illness.

In Colorado and nationwide, uninsured patients, as well as those covered by Health First and Medicaid, are facing significant health disparities, including a lack of access to essential services like blood screenings. These challenges result in delays in treatment and limited access to specialized care, including oncologists and cancer specialists. We are actively seeking funding to provide free cancer screenings and genetic testing in these low-income communities across Colorado and soon nationwide.

In Colorado and other communities, the underutilization of free cancer screening and genetic testing for hereditary illnesses is a significant issue, particularly among low-income populations. This challenge stems from factors such as cost, lack of insurance, and limited provider availability, which create health disparities not only for disadvantaged groups but across most demographics in the state and nationwide. Currently, Health First and Medicaid do not provide these crucial blood screenings for these illnesses.

In Colorado, health disparities such as low income and limited health literacy hinder the understanding of cancer risks, genetic testing options, preventative measures, and available support services. Our plan is to provide free cancer screening for those in high-risk groups and communities, aiming to improve awareness and access to resources.

Our vision is to bring awareness of cancer and genetic illnesses to all communities in Colorado and nationwide through education and free cancer screening, including free genetic testing. We aim to provide these vital services, especially to low-income populations in Colorado first, to address health disparities. Currently, we are advocating for funding to support these essential programs.
